Police arrest suspect in string of armed robberies
Violent crime spree targeted bars, shops, convenience stores and individuals
Calgary police have one person in custody in relation to a string of overnight armed robberies.
Witnesses have described the same suspect in about half a dozen robberies since Sunday night.
There were two more robberies on Tuesday night — the first at a sports bar in the 5600 block of Fourth Street northwest.
A victim was stabbed and taken to hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition.
The second robbery happened at a Subway shop in Falconridge in the northeast.
A police helicopter spotted a vehicle leaving the neighbourhood that had been described as involved in previous robberies.
Three armed robberies also took place Sunday night, targeting two businesses and one person, and two convenience stores were hit in south Calgary early Tuesday morning.
The driver is now being questioned in connection with the crime spree.
