Calgary will soon see a new face in the mayor's chair — and as part of CBC Calgary's extensive municipal election coverage, we wanted to get to know the leading candidates in the mayoral race.
Not only their policy stances but more about who they are, where they're coming from and what they've done.
The next person to lead this city has a monumental task ahead.
How to support a group of mostly new councillors? How to lead the city's economic recovery and deal with the aftermath of the pandemic? What to do about property taxes, the environment and the green line? But also, how will they ensure Calgary is a place future generations continue to be proud to call home?
The mayoral race is a crowded one. So how to get to the person behind the campaign brochure you found in your mailbox?
Well, I gave them each a call. And they were good enough to answer.
We chatted about everything from the neighbourhoods where they grew up, to their favourite places in the city to eat (you're going to read some differing opinions on where to find the best slice of pizza), to their detailed economic and social plans for shaping Calgary's future.
