Police have laid new charges in the case of a Calgary man accused in a case that involved the human sex trafficking of a minor. Michael Todd Mazar, 48, is charged with luring, sexual assault and drug trafficking in the case of a second teen girl.
Last month, police charged Mazar with multiple charges in the case of a 15-year-old girl who investigators believe was coerced into exchanging sexual acts for drugs and money against her will.
The accused was arrested Nov. 4, and appeared in court on Nov. 18.
On December 7, police arrested and charged Mazar for offenses against a 16-year-old girl. This time, Mazar is charged with luring, sexually assaulting a minor, obtaining sexual services and drug trafficking.
Police believe the girl was assaulted repeatedly between April and August 2020.
"The accused arranged for transportation for the girl to his residence, where he attempted to use alcohol to intoxicate the girl and provided her with drugs and money in exchange for sexual services against her will," police said in a release.
The new charges include one count each of:
- Sexual assault.
- Obtaining sexual services for consideration.
- Luring a child under the age of 18.
- Drug trafficking.
Mazar is facing charges in the first case for:
- Sexual assault.
- Sexual interference.
- Invitation to sexual touching.
- Obtaining sexual services for consideration.
In the first case, police believe the 15-year-old victim was sexually assaulted at the Sandman Hotel at 888 Seventh Avenue S.W. At that time police also charged Cheyenne Madison Savannah Lee Schmeikal,19, who is accused of trafficking the girl in exchange for drugs and money.
The girl was coerced into subsequent sexual acts with both the man and woman against her will, police said.
In the new charges, Mazar is accused of assaulting the girl at his own residence.
