Woman charged in killing of man found dead in Memorial Drive intersection
Police say they are working to determine a motive and whether the victim and suspect were known to each other
Police have charged a woman with manslaughter after a man was found dead in a busy Calgary intersection after falling out of a car stopped at a red light.
The incident took place on the morning of Oct. 6 at the intersection of Memorial Drive and 36th Street S.E.
Police identified the victim as David Bawden, 59, of Calgary. They say it's believed he was walking along Memorial Drive before being picked up and then "fatally assaulted inside the vehicle."
After posting a photo of the suspect car and asking the public for help, police said they received a "significant amount of information" and located the vehicle two days later. They then executed a search warrant on a home on the 2600 block of 17th Street S.W.
Following the raid, a man and woman were taken into custody but later released without charges.
A third person was taken into custody on Monday, "based on additional evidence, with the assistance of Calgary Transit peace officers," police said in a release.
"Detectives are still working to determine a motive for the killing, as well as if the victim and offender were known to each other."
Ronita Wildman, 34, faces one count of manslaughter in the death.
Police say they are not looking for any other suspects.
