Calgary police identify man killed in Christmas Day shooting

Calgary police have identified the victim killed in a Christmas Day shooting. 

Investigators are searching for a 22-year-old suspect

Calgary police have identified the victim killed in a Christmas Day shooting. 

The Calgary Police Service announced Wednesday that an autopsy determined the victim was 24-year-old Samuel Welday Haile of Calgary. It's yet unclear if he was targeted or not. 

According to investigators, Haile died in the hospital after being shot early Sunday morning on the 2600 block of 35th Street S.E., in the city's Forest Lawn neighbourhood.


Authorities are still searching for the shooter, and investigators have asked the public's help in finding a 22-year-old man. 

Haile's death marked Calgary's 26th homicide of the year.
