A former board member of the Calgary Homeless Foundation who pleaded guilty to charges that included sexual assault of a minor has abandoned an appeal of his sentence.

Robin Wortman was sentenced in February to five years after admitting to possession and distribution of child pornography, drug trafficking and luring a child under 18 to facilitate a sexual offence.

Court heard he used social media and text messages to communicate with boys and to lure them into sexual relationships.

Many of the boys were homeless and addicted to drugs.

Wortman also admitted providing his nine underage victims with drugs and videotaping illicit sexual encounters over a three-year period.

Wortman was added to the sex offender registry for life.
