Lotto 6/49 jackpot goes to Calgary gym friends

Group that works out together wins lottery together — and just on their second try

Shalee Stair and 16 of her friends found out going to the gym really pays off. 

The group won $1 million in the Lotto 6/49 draw on Dec. 12, even though it was only the second time they bought a ticket together as a group.

"I started calling everyone in the group right after I checked the ticket," said Stair in a news release. "No one would believe me!"

The list of winners includes:

  • Sheila Evans

Many of the workout buddies say they will use the extra cash to pay down some bills and travel. Stair says she's looking into buying a vehicle with some of her winnings.

Each group member will each take home approximately $58,820. They bought their winning ticket at the Superstore in Country Hills Village.
