Woman in her 90s dies following car crash last week near airport
Police say collision in northeast Calgary remains under investigation
Calgary police say they are investigating after a crash last week near the airport resulted in the death of an elderly woman.
The Calgary Police Service said the crash happened Friday evening at the intersection of Aero Drive and Aero Gate northeast, just west of the Calgary International Airport.
The victim was a passenger in a car traveling south on Aero Drive. The car collided with an SUV turning north at the intersection.
The woman, described as being in her 90s, suffered critical injuries in the crash. Emergency crews took her to hospital for treatment.
She died Tuesday, three days after the crash, police said.
The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the SUV, another man in his 60s, was unharmed.
Neither speed nor impairment are believed to be factors in the crash.
Police say the collision remains under investigation by the service's traffic section.
