Bowden man injured trying to stop thieves from stealing his truck, say RCMP
Victim taken to Red Deer hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition
A man was seriously injured Monday when he was run over as he tried to confront a thief driving his stolen truck, according to police.
RCMP said they responded to a hit-and-run report in Bowden, Alta., at approximately 7:40 a.m. Monday.
The incident started when a dark-coloured pickup truck, believed to be a GMC Sierra, with a snowmobile in the back was seen by a witness driving into an alley.
One of two men in the GMC got out and entered a Chevrolet Silverado that was parked outside a home.
The Silverado's owner came out of the house and confronted the man as he started to drive away in his pickup. As the owner got closer, he was hit and run over.
The other man in the GMC also drove away.
Police said the victim was taken to a Red Deer hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Both trucks were located, but police are searching for the two men.
One of the men is described as Caucasian, five foot eight inches, 150 pounds and wearing a hoodie and hat.
