Health officials are warning of a potential measles exposure in the Alberta Children's Hospital emergency room.

Patients who may have been exposed to the virus have been sent a letter. 

"[It] advises these individuals to watch for symptoms of measles, and to call Health Link Alberta before visiting any health-care provider or facility if symptoms do develop," according to health officials.

The possible exposure happened in the emergency room on these dates:

  • Jan. 18 between 12:41 p.m. and 9:18 p.m.
  • Jan. 16-17 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 1:53 a.m.
  • Jan. 14 between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 8:34 p.m.

Sending such letters is "standard procedure," according to Alberta Health Services officials.
