Construction worker dies after being hit by truck in Airdrie

A construction worker in his thirties was killed when he was hit by a truck while he was bent over working on a storm drain in Airdrie, Alta., RCMP said.

RCMP say a man is dead after a workplace incident in Airdrie, Alta.

Police responded to the 100 block of Windford Street around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A 38-year-old man from Calgary was found dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that a construction worker was bent over working on a storm drain when he was hit by a work truck, RCMP said in a release.

Occupational Health and Safety officials are continuing to investigate.

Windford is a largely residential area located on the southwest edge of Airdrie.

Police said no further information will be released out of respect for the man's family.
