Accused Guatemalan war criminal Jorge Sosa, who was arrested in Lethbridge more than a year ago, was extradited on Friday.
In August this year, the Alberta Court of Appeal denied Sosa a chance to fight a court decision that cleared the way for his extradition to the United States.
Sosa is wanted in the United States for allegedly making false immigration statements by not admitting his military past.
He is also wanted in Guatemala, where he has been accused of taking part in a village massacre in 1982 in which 251 men, women and children were killed.
Sosa has both Canadian and American citizenship.
He was arrested in Lethbridge, Alta., in January 2011 while visiting family.
