WorkSafeBC is investigating following a fatal accident in Surrey, B.C. Thursday afternoon.

It happened on a rural property in the 15600 block of 40th Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. PT.

Details are scarce but WorkSafeBC spokeswoman Trish Knight Chernecki said it involved a worker and a tractor.

WorkSafeBC, the B.C. Coroners Service and the Surrey RCMP are all investigating.

The victim's identity is not yet known, but B.C. Coroners Service spokesperson Barb McLintock says he was a male in his 40s who was part of a crew harvesting beets when the accident happened.
