Environment Canada has issued a wind warning in Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound and the Southern Gulf Islands.

"A cold air mass surging through the Fraser Valley this morning will generate strong outflow winds with gusts to 90 km/h starting later this morning," the weather agency said. "The plume of wind will extend from the Chilliwack and Abbotsford area, through southern Langley and across the Strait of Georgia to affect the southernmost Gulf Islands and Greater Victoria.

It expects the winds will remain "brisk" until Tuesday morning.

The weather agency is asking people in the affected areas to exercise caution as damage from loose objects and fallen trees is highly possible.
