Watch out for fake Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z tickets

Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z fans hoping to see them in concert in Vancouver Wednesday night are being advised to think twice before buying tickets from scalpers or Craigslist sellers.

At the One Direction concert last week, many fans who paid up to $500 to see the band were left standing outside the stadium, after their tickets turned out to be remarkably good fakes.

Ticketmaster spokesperson Jacqueline Peterson says big shows attract sophisticated criminals, who are able to produce some remarkable fakes.

"It isn't easy to tell a real ticket. In fact it's almost impossible to tell if a ticket is real by looking at it," said Peterson.

Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are due to play BC Place as part of their Legends of the Summer tour on Wednesday night.

Peterson advises the only way to ensure you are getting a real ticket to see Timberlake and Jay-Z is to buy tickets from official outlets or established resellers.

"At a minimum, they need to find an organization that will at least give them their money back."

The Better Business Bureau also advises using a credit card instead of cash when buying tickets, to ensure you can get the charges reversed if they turn out to be fakes.
