Violent attack in East Vancouver has police searching for witnesses

A woman is in hospital after a violent attack early Wednesday morning near Rupert Park in East Vancouver, said police. 

The woman was attacked from behind by a stranger when she walking near the intersection of Rupert and Kitchener streets at 1:30 a.m. PT.

The stranger allegedly choked, kicked and hit her several times before she fought back, using her umbrella, and ran away. She sustained injuries to her head, neck and arms, said police. 

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian.
  • In his 30s.
  • Five feet eight inches with a skinny build.
  • With brown hair and blond stubble.
  • Wearing a black baseball cap, green jacket with a letter B varsity letter, and work boots. 

Police said they don't know the motive for the attack.
