Victims tied up during 'traumatic' home invasion in Abbotsford, B.C.
Police say luxury cars, cash and other valuables were stolen from Sandpiper Drive home
Police are investigating what they call a "terrifying" home invasion on Sandpiper Drive in Abbotsford, B.C. early Monday morning.
Around 7:30 a.m PT, police say two men and a woman sleeping inside a home in the 30400-block of Sandpiper Drive were awoken by two men.
Police say the suspects had their faces covered and one was armed with a shotgun. They allegedly tied up the three victims, two men aged 35 and a 31-year-old woman.
Police say a three-year-old child was also in the house but slept throughout the incident.
The armed men allegedly rummaged through the house, taking cash and other valuables.
As they departed, police say they stole a white Cadillac CTS and a grey Porsche Cayenne from the driveway.
The victims were able to free themselves and call police at around 9:50 a.m. PT.
"[The victims] fortunately only suffered minor injures. But when you wake up to two assailants in your home, at least one brandishing a shotgun, it's a pretty traumatic type of incident," said Const. Ian Macdonald with Abbotsford police.
Macdonald said police believe the incident was targeted, but the motive is unclear.
"At this point in time we haven't definitely isolated what the motive might have been," Macdonald said.
Officers are now canvassing the area for possible surveillance footage and are hoping to speak to witnesses
"At 7:30 a.m. it's light out so hopefully we'll end up with a witness or some video that can put some supects or a suspect vehicle in and around the area."
