Vancouver sex assault suspect sought

Vancouver police are looking for a man following an attempted sexual assault in the early hours of Friday morning.

A 26-year-old woman told police that she was getting into her car on 7th Avenue near Windermere Street in East Van just before 5 a.m. PT when she was grabbed from behind by a man in dark clothing, and punched.

The assailant then attempted to remove the victim's clothes.

The man ran off after the woman fought back, screaming and alerting several people in nearby homes.

Police are looking for witnesses and possible video. They are also interested in any information regarding suspicious people or vehicles spotted in the neighbourhood in the past few days.
