Vancouver police investigate stabbing death on Commercial Drive

Man who died of his injuries Thursday night was Vancouver's 16th homicide of the year.

A Vancouver man who was stabbed near Commercial Drive Thursday night has died of his injuries.

On Saturday, police identified the man as 33-year-old Joseph Glen Jandrew.

Police say he is Vancouver's 16th homicide victim this year.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue called police after discovering the victim close to the Tim Hortons near Commercial Drive and East First Avenue around 9:30 p.m. PT.

The man was suffering from a stab wound. He was rushed to hospital, but later died of his injuries.

Police have not yet made any arrests.

At this point, investigators say they do not believe it was a random assault.

Since the event took place during a time when lots of bystanders were present, police are asking for witnesses to come forward to provide any information.

"No matter how small you think it is, give us a call," said Constable Jason Doucette.
