Vancouver patio hours to be extended until 1 a.m. PT

Restaurants in Vancouver can apply to have their patio hours extended to 1 a.m. PT between April 1 and Oct. 31 this year.

The decision to allow later hours follows a 2014 pilot that pushed the hours to midnight, from a previously set 11 p.m., for 115 participating restaurants.

All restaurant patios, regardless of size can apply for this year's extension, meaning a potential total of 599 could stay open late through the summer.

Eligible applicants must have up-to-date insurance, all fees paid in full, and have no patio noise complaints on file within the previous 12 months.
