Paris attacks leave travellers confused, Vancouver airport normal
Airlines promise to forgive cancellation fees for flights to Paris, given fears
Flights in and out of Paris are operating today, but some travellers may have second thoughts about heading there.
Most airlines are pledging not to penalize flyers who cancel this weekend, given the recent terrorist attacks in Paris that left 127 dead. Overnight Vancouver's airport lit up its control tower in the colours of France's flag, a nod to a country in mourning.
"We've certainly had a number of calls of concern but again because the situation is fluid, I think a lot of people are of the mind set where they are waiting to see what's happening," said Allison Wallace of Flight Centre Canada.
Wallace said the chaos people witnessed on the streets of France leaves people confused.
Overnight authorities at Gatwick Airport in London evacuated its North Terminal for security reasons, which caused travel delays. This morning Vancouver International Airport officials said flights in Vancouver are not affected.
The first scheduled flight to Paris from Vancouver is scheduled for Sunday, and so far no change.
Most major airlines will not penalize travellers who choose not to fly this weekend.
"What normally happens in these situations is if you want to change or cancel your flight those fees are waived whether its a natural disaster or something," said Wallace.
For now most airlines have committed to waiving cancellation fees for Paris bound flights for the next few days.
