Vancouver aquarium expecting another baby beluga
Staff at the Vancouver aquarium just might be humming the children's song Baby Beluga following word that 12-year-old beluga Qila is expecting a calf.
Staff at the Vancouver aquarium just might be humming the children's song Baby Beluga following word that 12-year-old beluga Qila is expecting a calf.
Qila became the first beluga conceived and born at a Canadian aquarium when Aurora delivered her in July 1995.
If the pregnancy goes as planned, Aurora — who still shares the Arctic Canada exhibit with her daughter —will become a grandmother in July or August.
As for the dad, it must be 19-year-old Imaq, the only male currently in the exhibit.
In July 2005, Qila's younger three-year-old brother Tuvaq died suddenly in the pool.
