Two more pedestrians killed in Metro Vancouver collisions
At least 7 pedestrians killed over the past two weeks in B.C. accidents
Two more pedestrians were killed in traffic accidents in Metro Vancouver on Wednesday night, including at least one hit-and-run.
In the first incident in downtown Vancouver, an elderly woman was struck by a car travelling north on Main Street between Cordova and Powell Streets just before 8 p.m. PT.
She was taken to hospital where she died of her injuries. Police say she has yet to be identified. The driver did not remain at the scene and police are looking for witnesses.
In the second incident in New Westminster, a 52-year-old woman was struck and killed on Burnette Avenue between Keary and East Columbia streets just before 9 p.m.
Witnesses say the woman was walking along Brunette Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle, possibly a tractor trailer, headed west.
The driver didn't stop, but police say it's possible the person behind the wheel didn't know he or she hit someone. Investigators want to speak to that driver, and anyone who saw the incident.
The victim was a New Westminster resident. Her family has been notified, but police have not released her identity.
