148 properties evacuated in B.C.'s Tulameen area

The district issued the declaration "due to the threat of flooding and debris flow that may threaten life, safety and cause significant property damage."

Flooding has prompted the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen to order the evacuation of 148 properties in the Tulameen area because of "immediate danger to life and safety."

The district declared a local state of emergency earlier in the day on Sunday. 

Residents need to leave the area immediately and take critical items with them. 

The district has set up a reception centre at the Riverside Community Centre at 148 Old Hedley Road in Princeton.
