'The world has lost a great deal of light': Friends mourn 3 killed in Shannon Falls tragedy
Emotional video from High on Life crew celebrates Megan Scraper, Alexey Lyakh and Ryker Gamble
Friends of the three young world travellers who died this week in an accident at a B.C. waterfall have shared an emotional video celebrating their lives.
Megan Scraper, Alexey Lyakh and Ryker Gamble all died in a fall Tuesday at Shannon Falls near Squamish.
Lyakh and Gamble were childhood friends who founded High On Life, a YouTube channel and business celebrating world travel. Scraper was Lyakh's girlfriend and an online personality in her own right, creating social media content for luxury hotels and other travel businesses.
In a video posted to YouTube Friday, a group of seven young men stand before the camera, some with tears in their eyes, as High on Life's Parker Heuser delivers a tribute to Scraper, Lyakh and Gamble.
"They were three of the warmest, kindest, most driven and outgoing people that you could meet, and the world has lost a great deal of light with their passing," Heuser said.
"They lived every single day to its fullest. They stood for positivity, courage, and living the best life that you can, and they shared and taught their values to millions of people worldwide."
He ends by reading a passage written by Lyakh and Gamble for a previous High on Life video, in which the pair urged their fans to "follow your bliss."
There hasn't been a definitive answer about what caused the three victims to fall to their deaths, but witnesses reported seeing Scraper slip on the rocks at the top of the falls, and then tumble into the strong current. The two men apparently jumped in the water to try to save her.
