Teagan Batstone remembered at memorial
Girl's mother Lisa Batstone is charged with 2nd-degree murder in her death
Hundreds of people turned out at a memorial in White Rock Wednesday evening for Teagan Batstone, the eight-year-old girl found dead in the trunk of a car last week in Surrey, B.C.
Batstone's mother Lisa Batstone has been charged with second-degree murder in the death, and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
The memorial last night was held at White Rock Baptist Church, which the mother and daughter attended together for about six years.
With music playing, dozens of pictures and videos of a smiling Teagan played centre-stage at her memorial.
Those who knew Teagan from the church said she was a vibrant child.
Sandra Christian, from the childcare centre Teagan went to before and after school, said telling her own children about the young girl's death has been difficult.
"I kept it for myself quite simple. I just said there is a little girl in the community that died, that it was a tragic accident and very, very sad and it makes me really hug my own children closer," said Christian.
