2 in hospital after tree falls on car in Surrey, B.C.
Mother and two children were in car when tree fell during windy weather, niece says
A mother and child are in hospital with minor injuries after a tree fell on their car in Surrey Friday afternoon in windy weather.
The woman was in the car with her youngest child when the tree fell, according to Nicole Tran, the woman's niece.
Tran said the woman's eldest child, nine years old, escaped from the car, but the woman and her youngest, who is preschool-aged, were trapped in the car for between 10 and 20 minutes until fire crews arrived.
"They have a few scratches on their hands on some on their faces," Tran said. "[My aunt] seemed pretty shook up when she got out but alert."
Surrey RCMP said in a tweet that both the woman and her child are going to be OK.
We can confirm a tree came down on an occupied veh 15000 blk of 86 Ave. Thankfully the occupants, including a child, are going to be ok.
