One man is dead after a stabbing in Surrey, B.C. early Saturday morning.

The victim, who has yet to be identified, died in hospital after the attack at around 2 a.m. in the 8800 block of 144th Street. The Integrated Homicide Investigation has taken over the case.

Investigators do not believe the slaying was random.

"It remains early in the investigation, but this homicide appears to be targeted," IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Meghan Foster said in a news release.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
