Surrey shooting leaves 1 man in serious condition
A man is in serious condition in a Surrey, B.C., hospital after suffering a gunshot wound during an exchange of fire, RMCP said Wednesday night.
Police said shots were fired at around 7 p.m. at a McDonald's restaurant at Scott Road and 124th Avenue near the Pattullo Bridge in the north side of the city.
Witnesses said a man with a gunshot wound to the head pulled up outside the Surrey Memorial Hospital in an SUV with what appeared to be a bullet hole in the passenger windshield.
"There's been an exchange of gunfire between some people," said Sgt. Roger Morrow, a spokesman for the Surrey RCMP.
Police were not certain how many shots were fired but "we're looking at a series of rounds," Morrow told CBC News.
Police were still investigating if gunfire was exchanged inside the restaurant or inside the man's vehicle, Morrow said.
"It doesn't look like this [shooting] targeted anyone in the public in general — more of an interaction between certain individuals," he said.
Investigatorswere on scene Wednesday night, trying to piece together what had happened and if there was another vehicle that wasinvolved.
No one from the restaurant was believed to be hurt, Morrow said.
