Surrey RCMP responded to an incident on the 3000 block of Croydon Drive in which as many as four young males were reportedly trying to gain entry into a home Saturday night.

Police said they received several 911 calls around 11 p.m. PT. One resident reported hearing a gun shot and police found evidence that a shot had been fired.

"The area was checked, along with the residence. All of the persons in the residence were safe, and there was nothing to indicate that the suspects had gained entry into the residence," said Staff Sgt. Murray Hedderson with the Surrey RCMP.

Police responded to the incident with several Surrey RCMP officers, a K-9 unit, the Air One helicopter and the Lower Mainland District's Emergency Response tactical team. The body armour-clad gang unit was also on scene, but reportedly just to support the other officers.

The suspects weren't located and police have only a vague description.

"Due to [the] darkness, witnesses were only able to supply a very generic description of the males and they were described as young males, wearing dark clothing," said Hedderson.

Police are asking anyone that may have witnessed the incident, or observed the males fleeing from the area, to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers.
