Surrey pedestrian killed in hit-and-run at King George Boulevard
57-year-old woman was pronounced dead in hospital
Surrey RCMP officers are investigating a fatal hit-and-run Monday morning on King George Boulevard.
A 57-year-old woman was crossing the busy highway in an unmarked crosswalk in the 8300-block when she was struck around 6:45 a.m. Monday.
She later died in hospital.
Cpl. Scotty Schumann said the woman was struck by a car that fled the scene — and then immediately after was struck by a second driver, who stayed to help.
"It doesn't appear that the second driver was able to avoid the collision or was even aware that person was there on the road," said Schumann.
RCMP officers closed King George Boulevard in both directions between 80 Avenue and 84 Avenue while they investigated the incident.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers.
