Surrey man charged with break and enter and sexual assault last year now facing additional counts
Jatinder Singh, 24, is accused of trespassing near home at night and secretly recording nudity

Police in Surrey, B.C., say a suspect accused of break and enter and sexual assault last summer is now facing four additional charges.
Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton with Surrey Police Service said Jatinder Singh, 24, was charged with two counts of trespass at night near a home and two counts of secretly observing and recording nudity in a private place.
According to an RCMP news release from last year, Singh was charged in August 2024 with break and enter and sexual assault connected to a July 20 incident in the early morning in the 14100-block of 91 Avenue.
Police said at the time that the victim had reported she was woken up by a man groping her in her her home. The suspect allegedly fled after she screamed for help.
Original arrest
Singh was then arrested in connection with the groping nearly a month later, following an investigation by the Surrey RCMP Special Victim's Unit. He was released with conditions, including to have no contact or communication with the victim and to not go within 50 metres of where the victim lives, works, attends school, worships or happens to be.
According to Houghton, the investigation continued after the arrest and the new charges are based on two alleged incidents on July 15 and July 17 — in the week before the alleged sexual assault.
The alleged trespassing took place in the same block of 91 Avenue as the alleged sexual assault, according to the B.C. Prosecution Service.
"It is an offence to go on private property at night and then it is an offence to essentially look through private windows into the residence of another person's home and either watch and/or record what's going on inside," said Houghton.
"Commonly that's known, in sort of layperson's terms, as peeping Tom," he said.
Houghton said Singh was arrested for the second time Jan. 22 and released from custody Feb. 7. He must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle, among other conditions, including a curfew.
