It seems the provincial government's recent move to slash the film industry tax credit has not hindered interest in B.C.,Ā as another major American TVĀ series comes to Vancouver.

Comic bookĀ series Supergirl is moving its production from Los Angeles to Vancouver for its second season.

The information was confirmed by The CW'sĀ vice president of publicity, Suzanne Gomez, who also noted her network had picked up the show from its network partner, CBS.

David Harewood, who plays J'onn theĀ Martian in the show, tweeted a thumbs up to the news.

B.C.'s provincial government recently announced it would be cutting theĀ film industry tax creditĀ from 33 per cent, to 28 per cent.Ā The change is to take effect October 1.

Finance Minister MikeĀ DeĀ Jong said at the time, it was prompted by the province'sĀ major boom in the film industryĀ ā€”Ā driven primarilyĀ byĀ a low Canadian dollar.

The number of film and TV productions in Vancouver increased by 40 per cent from 2014 to 2015.Ā

That trend has continued this year ā€”Ā January was already 30 per cent busier than the previousĀ "record breaking" year, according toĀ SandiĀ Swanigan, the city'sĀ senior manager for film and special events.

Supergirl joins a roster of other CW shows being filmed here in Hollywood North including The Flash, Arrow and Supernatural.

Could we be seeing more of Supergirl and The Flash teaming up with both shows being shot primarily in Vancouver? Only time will tell. (CBS)
