Young Padawans, Jedis, Leias, Vaders and Yodas transformed St Andew's-Wesley United Church Sunday into 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far away...' on Sunday to celebrate May 4, Star Wars Day.

Star Wars Day, May 4, celebrated in style at St Andrew's-Wesley United church

Padawans, Jedis, Leias, Darth Vaders and Yodas young and old transformed St Andew's-Wesley United Church Sunday into "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...." in celebration of Star Wars Day,  May 4.

With the slogan, 'May the fourth be with you," Pastor Kathryn Ransdell says it's the perfect opportunity to bring people together.

"May the 4th is a worldwide phenomenon and it falls on a Sunday only once every 10 years. So we thought, 'Why not?'" she said.

"We're always looking for ways to engage people in church, and what better way to tell our faith story than through this lens of an iconic story of forces of good working to save the galaxy?"

Star Wars fan Jesse Cross says he last went to church at Easter.

"I think it's great, said Cross. There's a lot of ways to connect it to the church, and whether you're spiritually religious or just spiritually curious, it draws in a different crowd and I think it's great they could do that."

Parishioner Jarvis Jones says Star Wars is the story of  the fight of good against evil, and church is a pretty good place to celebrate that.
