Police are trying to locate a young man who they believe went snowboarding Saturday on Mount Seymour in North Vancouver.

North Vancouver RCMP found his vehicle parked at the top of the Mount Seymour parking lot on Tuesday, Const. Marlene Morton said.

The 1996 grey Ford Explorer with Ontario plates is registered to James William Martin, 21.

Police found his cellphone and wallet inside the vehicle, and call records indicate he went snowboarding on Mount Seymour on Saturday, Morton said.

"[Police] have contacted Martin's employer, a roofing firm, who advised that they have not heard from him in several days," Morton said in a news release.

North Shore Rescue, a community-based volunteer search and rescue team, conducted an aerial sweep of the area Tuesday but found nothing.

"The weather conditions are too hazardous at this point for them to enter on foot," Morton said.

Martin's friends have not heard from him either, police said.
