A 14-year-old male snowboarder was injured after falling off the Emerald Express chair lift on Whistler Mountain Saturday.
Video sent to CBC News shows lift attendants running up the hill to set up a round "firemans net" underneath the dangling boy. He then lets go and falls approximately eight metres into the net before hitting the ground heavily.
He was taken to Whistler Medical Centre and treated for a lower back injury.
According to a statement released by Whistler Blackcomb the boy did not have the restraining bar lowered and was left hanging on to the seat after slipping out of the chair.
"It is unknown at this time what caused the guest to slip from the chair lift," reads the statement.
