Even on a travelling day, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds know how to put on a show.

The aerobatics squadron dazzled people in downtown Vancouver as it flew in formation enroute to an upcoming gig at the Abbotsford International Airshow.

Captain Jay Howlett from the Royal Canadian Air Force special events department, said his colleagues were making their way from another air show in Nanaimo, B.C.

"They're always on display," he said about their penchant for performance.

If air traffic control and travel routes allow for it, he says the Snowbirds try to make it special for people who may be watching, particularly when they fly over urban areas.

Vancouverites and tourists alike eagerly snapped photos and videos of the squadron as it streaked through blue skies.

The Snowbirds are scheduled to perform at the Abbotsford International Airshow from Friday until Sunday this week.
