Traffic snarled, SFU classes cancelled due to snow in Metro Vancouver
At least 4 buses involved in accidents Friday morning, TransLink says
B.C.'s South Coast isn't done with the snow just yet — and traffic in Metro Vancouver is snarled as a result.
TransLink said bus routes were disrupted Friday morning as snow accumulated downtown and across the rest of the region. Spokeswoman Anne Drennan said at least four buses were involved in accidents by 9:30 a.m. PT, but no one was injured.
Classes at Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus and Emily Carr University on Granville Island are cancelled due to weather.
Bus service to and from the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal was also suspended, according to BC Ferries.
In Burnaby, several cars and a TransLink bus were caught sliding down a steep hill on 1st Avenue.
Drennan said SkyTrains are operating normally. A mechanical issue on the Canada Line near Bridgeport station briefly disrupted service, but the issue was resolved around 11 a.m. PT and wasn't snow-related.
The Ministry of Transportation said crews were working to clear the Alex Fraser Bridge and the Port Mann Bridge Friday, spraying both spans with de-icing agents.

Snowfall warnings for west Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast have since been added to other warnings already in effect for Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and other parts of Vancouver Island.
The latter two regions also saw traffic delays and road closures.
Around 10 to 20 centimetres of snow is expected by early Saturday morning for the regions.
Environment Canada said a weak warm front is bringing light snow to the region, and it will be followed by a low-pressure system which will bring heavier snow to the area Friday evening.
The department also said the snow may mix with or change to rain at lower elevations, especially near the Strait of Georgia. The Fraser Valley could see freezing rain in the evening.
