UPDATE — 11:28 a.m. PT: Environment Canada has lifted snow and freezing rain warnings for the Fraser Valley.

EARLIER STORY:

After a stretch of dry and cold weather, wet snow and freezing rain are in the forecast for parts of the Lower Mainland.

A snowfall warning from Environment Canada said an additional two to four centimetres of snow is expected for the Fraser Valley on Monday. A weak front over the region brought five to 10 centimetres of fresh snow Sunday, with the highest amounts expected in eastern communities like Chilliwack and Hope.

The weather agency issued a freezing rain warning for the Fraser Valley on Monday morning. Highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may be icy and slippery and drivers are reminded to slow down.

The snow and freezing rain are expected to turn to rain across the region Monday afternoon as warmer air arrives.
