SkyTrain delays: service resumes after power failure
Trains resumed running into downtown at 8:14 a.m. PT.
A power failure at Waterfront Station caused system-wide delays on Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain on Monday morning around 6:30 a.m. PT, stopping trains from running into downtown past Stadium Station.
A bus bridge was put in place to connect passengers between Stadium, Granville, Burrard and Waterfront stations.
TransLink officials said the problem was resolved by 8:14 a.m., but warned riders. particularly on the Expo Line, to expect lengthy delays until passengers have a chance to board the trains at crowded stations.
Earlier delays of more than an hour were reported by commuters throughout the SkyTrain system.
CanadaLine was not affected by the power failure.
Last year two major shutdowns of the SkyTrain system stranded passengers for hours, leading to an independent review that ended up making 20 recommendations for improvements.
