SeaBus resumes service after suspicious package scare turns out to be Walkman
TransLink resumes regular service
The SeaBus terminal in North Vancouver was evacuated for several hours after a suspicious package was found on the MV Burrard Beaver during the rush hour on Tuesday evening.
The bomb squad sent in a robot and a sniffer dog to investigate the suspicious package, but discovered the device was an "old style Walkman music player," according to Metro Vancouver Transit Police spokeswoman Anne Drennan.
"The device that we were looking at was an old style Walkman music player. It was very unusual looking. It wasn't clear at all that that's what it was until the robot was able to really examine it up close," she said.
TransLink suspended SeaBus trips in both directions from Waterfront to Lonsdale Quay just after 5 p.m. PT. Regular service resumed around 9 p.m.
