Ryan Reynolds victim of apparent hit and run in Vancouver

Actor Ryan Reynolds was the victim of a hit and run in the parking lot of the posh Shangri-la hotel on Friday.

"While walking, Ryan was struck by a paparazzo driving a car through an underground parking garage," publicist Leslie Sloane said. "The man fled the scene. Ryan is okay."

Const. Brian Montague said he could not provide much detail.

"I can confirm we attended and investigated the hit and run in the parking lot on Friday and there were no injuries," he wrote in an email.

"Unfortunately I have not been given an update and don't know the outcome or how things have progressed with confirming who the driver is."

Montague said he did not know whether police had managed to locate the driver of the car or speak to him.

Liz Sperandeo, public relations manager at the Shangri-la, said the incident took place "in the hotel's residential parking lot." 

"We have extended our full assistance to the authorities who are handling the matter," she told CBC News. 

Vancouver-born Reynolds has been in the city over the past several weeks shooting his new film, Deadpool.

Showing he hasn't lost his sense of humour, Reynolds tweeted a cheeky response to a query from CBC reporter Richard Zussman:
