RCMP probe killing in Prince George

RCMP in Prince George are investigating a brazen daylight shooting that left a man dead.

RCMP in Prince George are investigating a brazen daylight shooting that left a man dead.

Police were called to the 2400 block of Oak Street at 3 p.m. PT on Saturday, Const. Lesley Smith of the Prince George RCMP told CBC News.

"This happened in a well-populated area known as the VLA," Smith said. "It is populated with families and there are children around — especially at 3 o'clock in the afternoon — so we were quite concerned when we heard of the shooting at such time during the day."

Smith said it's not clear whether the city's seventh homicide of the year was gang-related.

"We are working very hard at this time to identify possible suspects and to get more witnesses to come forward," Smith said.

Police have not released the dead man's name.
