The Fraser Institute has released its annual ranking of the B.C.'s high schools, and once again private schools dominate.

Two private Vancouver girls schools share the number one ranking in the province: York House and Little Flower Academy.

The highest ranked public high school was University Hill at UBC, which placed 19th overall, followed by Lord Byng, in Vancouver's Point Grey neighbourhood in 24th.

The report also ranked public school boards, based on the average ranking of the schools in each district.

West Vancouver School District and Revelstoke shared first place in the school board rankings with an average rating of 7.5 out of 10.

The rankings are based on several factors including provincial exam marks, gender gaps, and graduation rates.

The annual report by the Fraser Institute has faced criticism on several fronts, including complaints that it promotes the privatisation of education and does not improve teaching in B.C. schools.

The rankings for elementary schools in B.C. were released earlier this year.
