Police have released a surveillance video which may show the driver of a truck that struck and killed a 16-year-old girl while she was in a marked crosswalk in Port Coquitlam, B.C.

Annie Leung, a grade 10 student at Riverside Secondary School died in hospital early Wednesday morning after she was hit at the intersection of Mary Hill Road and Pitt River Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Mounties are looking for an older man with greying hair who was driving a black pickup truck with black canopy that left the scene after the girl was hit.

The video was taken from a surveillance camera near the scene of the incident and has been sped up and slowed down at various points.

Around 17 seconds in, it shows a black pickup truck pulling up from the right on the far side of the road.

A man exits the truck, walks around the front of his vehicle, then runs round the far side of the truck back in the direction he drove in from, then goes out of view on the right.

Several other vehicles pass by, then around one minute and 20 seconds in, the man returns to his truck and drives away from the scene, eventually going out of view on the left.

Insp. Paulette Freill said police have not identified the man in the video but confirm he is a person of interest in the case and believe he could have important information about the moments before and after the collision.

Freill said police are also looking for the man who gave first aid to the victim immediately after the collision and the driver of a silver truck, who is not a suspect, but whom witnesses say was in the immediate vicinity.

"On behalf of the victim, her family and friends and everyone who has been touched by this tragedy, I am asking these three individuals, as well as anyone else with information about the collision, to contact us immediately," said Freill."

"And I have a message for the driver who left the scene. We need to speak to you and it is not too late to do the right thing."
