Drunk driving charges laid after 30-vehicle Pattullo Bridge crash
Jillian Bodnar, 30, charged with impaired driving after allegedly smashing into oncoming traffic last August
More than seven months after a crash on the Pattullo Bridge that damaged more than 30 vehicles, a Surrey woman is facing three criminal charges, including impaired and dangerous driving.
During the afternoon rush on Aug. 6, the driver of a northbound burgundy station wagon crossed the centre lane and pylon dividers on the Pattullo Bridge, colliding with more than 30 oncoming vehicles.
She kept driving until she ran into a concrete barrier, according to the New Westminster Police Department.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving that day, and now Jillian Bodnar, 30, has been charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, and driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08.
"We are definitely thankful no one was hurt from this collision," said Sgt. Jeff Scott. "This was a serious collision ... and there was a fair amount of risk to the public."
"We want to remind drivers that when they are drinking, or going out for a couple of drinks with friends, to plan a safe ride home."
