The Pattullo Bridge, the busiest crossing in B.C.'s Lower Mainland, is scheduled to reopen Monday after four months of deck work and other repairs.

Work on the bridge began on Apr. 29, focussing on deck repairs and and repaving.

Between May 2 and Aug. 26, there were a series of overnight closures of the crossing to allow work to get done.

On most days, one lane was kept open on the bridge to allow trucks and essential traffic to pass through, but the work caused traffic jams and ongoing congestion.

The bridge was entirely closed this past weekend, Aug. 26-29.

At 5 a.m. PT on Monday, all four lanes are scheduled to reopen.

The bridge is slated for replacement in five to seven years, according to TransLink. Until then, this work was necessary to keep the crossing safe and passable.

Some further deck repairs will continue into the fall, but will not require closures. Work is expected to end completely on Oct. 3
