The BC Coroners Service is now investigating the case of a 28-year old man who went into cardiac arrest while hiking near Norvan Falls in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park on Sunday, according to the North Vancouver RCMP.

The coroners service confirmed Monday the man has died.

He was airlifted out of the area in critical condition, North Shore Rescue said Sunday.

NSR team leader, Mike Danks says the victim was crossing a creek when he slipped and fell and struck his head, which put the man into cardiac arrest.

"The informant [hiking partner] ran seven kilometres out for help," said Danks, adding that there is no cell phone reception where the pair were.

North Shore Rescue received a call for help around 6 p.m. PT and used a helicopter to locate the victim, who was then rescued with a long line after emergency responders attached an automatic CPR device to him.

"He got the best care he could have," said Danks. "I'm really proud of how the team responded."
