Mother's Day brunch options in and around Vancouver

On the Coast food columnist Anya Levykh offers up her recommendations for best Mother's Day brunch spots, including Café Medina in downtown Vancouver (Medina Cafe)

Mother's Day is this Sunday, and that means brunch will be on the menu for many people.

If the traditional eggs benedict just doesn't cut it this year, On the Coast food columnist Anya Levykh has a few brunches that offer something special for Mum.

1. Café Medina
Café Medina offers Moroccan-influenced dishes like a Merguez sausage tagine with poached eggs, vegetable stew, preserved lemon and grilled focaccia. They also offer a fantastic mushroom fricassee with a sherry-roasted mushroom ragout, roasted potatoes, caramelised onions, smoked applewood cheddar and two fried eggs.

2. Graze Vegetarian  
Graze Vegetarian is offering up fantastic vegan and vegetarian items, including their organic corn breakfast tacos. (Graze Vegetarian)

Located on Fraser Street, Graze Vegetarian has some fantastic vegan and vegetarian items, some of which are gluten-free, such as their organic corn breakfast tacos, stuffed with seasoned scrambled tofu, tomato, bell pepper, black beans and corn.

3. Burdock & Co
If not everyone in your family is a vegetarian or vegan, Burdock & Co on Main Street is a plant-forward restaurant that also serves animal protein. They have a vegetarian lingonberry clafoutis with bourbon cream and maple syrup, as well as trumpet mushroom risotto with sour bran bubble and local Heidi cheese, or chickpea salad with orange confit.

​4Market by Jean-Georges 
If you want to get a little more fancy, Market by Jean-Georges is offering a special four-course Mother's Day brunch for $48 per person that includes cashew sticky buns to start, followed by your choice of appetizer, main and dessert. Plus, every mom will be entered to win various prizes including a stay at the Shangri-La hotel or dinner for two.

5. Yew Seafood and Bar

Yew Seafood and Bar is offering up their spectacular Mother's Day brunch buffet for $79 per person. It includes pastries, raw bar with oysters and seafood, charcuterie, a carvery, smoked salmon with poached eggs, and, of course, dessert

6. Chef Tony
Or you could venture out to Richmond for dim sum at Chef Tony. Voted one of Vancouver's top 10 new restaurants their amazing black truffle siu mai are legendary as well as his shrimp and matsutake dumplings.
