Matthew Huszar's cause of death ruled 'undetermined'
The 25-year-old went missing after an office Christmas party in Gastown in December 2011
The cause of Matthew Huszar's death after an office Christmas party in 2011, has been ruled "undetermined", according to a B.C. Coroners Service report released today.
The 25-year-old's body was found submerged in the water beneath a dock at Quayside Marina in Vancouver on Dec. 13, 2013, two years after he went missing on Dec 16, 2011.
The B.C. Coroners Service report says Huszar had cocaine in his body at the time and there was no evidence of trauma or natural disease.
Huszar had left his co-workers after a Christmas office party, and failed to return home to Victoria, B.C. His family family and friends launched a search and offered a reward.
His body was found, two years later, along with his wallet containing cash, in the waters of False Creek.
Vancouver police found no evidence of foul play.
Coroner Lisa Graham says, before he went missing, Huszar had bought a boat and had talked about moving it to the marina in Yaletown in downtown Vancouver.
Graham concludes that it's reasonable to believe that Huszar may have been at the marina to look at the facility and other boats moored there, but because of the deterioration of his remains, there can be no definitive cause of death established.
